Apple Raises Battery Replacement Cost for Out-of-Warranty iPhones

Apple has announced its decision to increase the cost of out-of-warranty iPhone battery replacements for models preceding the iPhone 14, effective later this year.

Pricing Adjustment

According to information provided on Apple’s support page, the current out-of-warranty battery service fee will remain in place until the conclusion of February 2023. However, starting March 1, 2023, the out-of-warranty battery service fee will see a $20 increment for all iPhone models predating the iPhone 14.

Currently, the fee for a battery replacement on most iPhone models stands at $69, as indicated by an estimation calculator available on Apple’s official website.

Impact on Customers

This pricing adjustment will primarily affect customers who do not possess an active AppleCare or AppleCare+ plan for their devices. Those without such coverage will bear the brunt of the increased replacement cost.

On the other hand, customers with an active AppleCare+ plan will not incur any charges for a battery replacement once their device’s battery health drops below the 80% threshold.

Future Developments

In parallel with this announcement, reports have emerged suggesting that Apple is in the process of developing new iPad Pro models featuring OLED displays. Set to debut in the first quarter of 2024, these models are rumored to come in 11.1-inch and 13-inch variants.

Enhanced Display Experience

The forthcoming OLED iPad Pro models are expected to boast larger screen sizes compared to their predecessors. With the introduction of slimmed-down bezels, users can anticipate an enhanced visual experience conducive to productivity and multimedia consumption.

Presently, Apple’s lineup includes two iPad Pro variants: a 12.9-inch model featuring a mini-LED display and an 11-inch model equipped with a traditional LCD display. The adoption of mini-LED technology has been exclusive to the higher-tier iPad Pro model, distinguishing it as a premium offering within the iPad lineup.
