Google Drive File Limitation: What You Need to Know

Google has quietly imposed a restriction on the number of files users can create and save in Google Drive.

According to reports from The Verge, users are now limited to creating a maximum of five million files in Google Drive. This decision comes as a measure to maintain strong performance and reliability while preventing potential misuse of the company’s systems, as stated by Google spokesperson Ross Richendrfer.

When users reach this limit, they will receive a notification. Additionally, Google support is available for users to address any issues related to this limitation.

While the idea of five million files may seem excessive for an individual user, there are cases where users have surpassed this threshold. However, it appears that Google did not notify affected users about this new limit before implementing it, as reported by several users.

In other recent developments, Google introduced a new feature called “search chips” in Drive. This feature enables users to filter search results based on criteria such as file type, owner, and last modified date directly within the web application.
