Blending Architecture and Nature: The Hay Equestrian Center & Eatery
Architectkidd recently unveiled their latest project, The Hay Equestrian Center & Eatery, located on the outskirts of Bangkok. The design, conceived with both horses and people in mind, serves as a hub for equestrian activities and therapeutic programs aimed at restoring the health of children and patients.
Inspired by Nature
Drawing inspiration from the movement and anatomy of horses, Architectkidd carefully laid out the spaces to align with the natural flow of the animals. The architecture of the main building mirrors these curved forms, utilizing wooden materials to create a harmonious connection with the surrounding environment.
Innovative Design Solutions
Working within the constraints of a pre-existing structural grid, Architectkidd devised wood panels that seamlessly merged with the wall and ceiling surfaces. These curved forms, layered over conventional concrete construction, add depth and character to the space while maintaining structural integrity.
Embracing Natural Finishes
Preserving the natural finishing of building materials was a priority for both the architects and the owners. The use of Padauk wood, known for its rich orange-brown hues that resemble the color of horses, adds warmth and texture to the interior spaces.
Creating a Welcoming Environment
While horses take center stage at the equestrian center, the design also prioritizes the comfort and enjoyment of visitors, especially children and families. Abundant natural light and greenery permeate the interior, fostering a sense of tranquility and connection with nature. The restaurant offers panoramic views of the riding track, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the equestrian experience.
A Haven for Animal Enthusiasts
Beyond horses, the center accommodates various other animals, including ponies, ducks, and chickens, creating a vibrant and inclusive community. Architectkidd’s approach to designing for this unique animal community reflects their commitment to creating spaces that foster interaction, well-being, and harmony between humans and nature.
The Hay Equestrian Center & Eatery stands as a testament to Architectkidd’s innovative design philosophy, seamlessly blending architecture with the natural world to create a sanctuary for both animals and humans alike.
