Biden's State of the Union Address Spurs $10 Million in Campaign Contributions

President Joe Biden delivered a compelling State of the Union address last week, and the results are in – it’s not just resonating with the public, but also translating into significant financial support for his reelection campaign.

In the 24 hours following his address on Thursday, Biden’s campaign for reelection raised an impressive $10 million, marking a record-breaking milestone for the president, as reported by NBC News. The campaign disclosed that this influx of funds came from 116,000 donations made by 113,000 supporters.

Julie Chavez Rodriguez, the campaign manager, emphasized the significance of this achievement, stating, “Ten million dollars in 24 hours. To quote the boss, that’s a BFD.” She added, “The President’s State of the Union address reminded so many of our supporters who is fighting for them, and the stakes of this election for our freedoms, our rights, and our democracy.”

Following the State of the Union address, Biden’s campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

According to NBC’s report, this surge in fundraising concludes a successful period for Biden’s campaign, which ended January with $56 million in contrast to Donald Trump’s $30 million. Additionally, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the Republican National Committee (RNC) reported having $24 million and $9 million, respectively.

During his address, Biden highlighted his administration’s accomplishments, particularly in healthcare and prescription prices, while also addressing contentious issues such as the conservative-majority Supreme Court’s decisions, including the landmark dismantling of Roe v. Wade.

In response to Biden’s address, former President Trump expressed confidence in his own prospects for the upcoming election via his social media platform, Truth Social. Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, emphasized Trump’s support base and criticized Biden’s policies in a statement to Business Insider.

Following the State of the Union address, Biden’s campaign launched a $30 million advertising campaign that addresses one of Biden’s perceived vulnerabilities – his age. In an ad, Biden acknowledges his age, stating, “Look, I’m not a young guy. That’s no secret. But here’s the deal, I understand how to get things done for the American people.”
